Photography is B-A-C-K!
Showcased in the beautifully renovated Abingdon Train Station adjacent to The Arts Depot, we are creating an exciting art walk from photography to fine art between these historic buildings.
THIS is the moment we have been waiting for….providing a brand new platform for photography to shine in its own exhibition and competition…reclaimed, refocused, and standing on its own. No longer folded into fine art, this juried show gives photography the space it deserves: bold, immediate, and deeply observed. From quiet moments to striking perspectives, the lens takes center stage once again—inviting artists to frame the world as only they can and audiences to see it anew.
Meet the 2026 Photography Juror: Liam Beasnette-Cullinane
Liam Besneatte-Cullinane is an analog photographer based in Southwest Virginia. His practice emphasizes darkroom technique, process experimentation, and the psychology of the photographic image, often exploring themes of cyclicality, fractal structures in nature, and biological symbolism.
In addition to his studio work, he manages The Art Place in Chilhowie, Virginia, where he exhibits work by regional artists and contributes to the cultural life of his community. His work has been exhibited at the William King Museum of Art, the McGlothlin Center for the Arts, the Renaissance Arts Center, and other institutions. He has also served as a juror for multiple regional exhibitions, including The Virginia Highlands Festival’s Fine Art Exhibition in 2023. His approach to jurying is informed by his experience with regional exhibitions, an emphasis on artistic intentionality, and a sustained engagement with the natural world as both subject and structure.
