The VA Highlands Festival is excited to welcome this year’s photography judge, Richard Mink. Richard’s talents within the arts began at a young age. His passion for painting and other creative mediums caused him to pick up a camera while looking for interesting subjects and compositions to draw. He quickly found a new creative outlet in photography.

Richard has been in the photography business for over 30 years developing a vast portfolio with notable experience. He is well-versed in studio photography, creating moods with lighting and atmospheres with a wide array of backdrops and props, and utilizes imaginative location shoots while optimizing natural light.

There is almost no subject left unphotographed by Richard throughout his career. He has captured portraits, families and children, weddings, live events, and even pets. His commercial range includes professional headshots, product photography, real estate, promotional and advertising images, magazine content, and design work. He has mastered photo restoration, manipulation, and digital airbrushing and touchup. Richard is a Bristol, VA native, primarily serving the Virginia and Tennessee Tri-Cities region and surrounding areas.
